Update: Creating pre-sets for Stream Deck control of Barco e2 on Mac
Introduction
Below is a method to create control shell scripts for controlling Barco e2 s3 or eX from the Elgato Stream Deck interface. This can add a number of easily accessible hot keys to your control laptop. You can also find more information about the Json commands used in the shell scripts from page 573 of the EM Manual (v5.2)
UPDATE
After a message from one of the Barco group Facebook page members I thought I would update this walk through. This has made the IP change much easier.
I have also found a way to remove the need to change settings in terminal.
Create an IP address text file
First task, copy the text below in to a new text file (using TextEdit or equivalent). Obviously you can change these IP’s to what ever you need.
#! /bin/bash export IP_ADDRESS_E2="192.168.0.175" export PORT_E2="9999" export IP_ADDRESS_S3="192.168.0.176" export PORT_S3="9999" export IP_ADDRESS_EX="192.168.0.177" export PORT_EX="9999"
save this file as IP_PORT_config.txt
You may want to turn your textedit preferences to plain text & turn off smart quotes. I had an issue where
quote marks were turned into the wrong type.
Make it a .sh file
Next change the extension to “.sh” (“IP_PORT_config.sh”) you will be asked if you want to change the extension, select, change to “.sh”
Create a preset recall text file
Once you have the IP PORT file in place copy the text below into another new text file
#!/bin/bash
source ~/Documents/your\ folder\ with\ spaces/your_folder_without_spaces/IP_PORT_config.sh
curl -d '{"params": {"presetSno": 1.00, "type": 0}, "method":"activatePreset", "id":"1234","jsonrpc":"2.0"}' -H "Content-Type: application/json" -X POST http://$IP_ADDRESS_E2:$PORT_E2/data
sleep .1
curl -d '{"params":{}, "method":"allTrans", "id":"1234", "jsonrpc":"2.0"}' -H "Content-Type: application/json" -X POST http://$IP_ADDRESS_E2:$PORT_E2/data
osascript -e 'tell application "Terminal" to close first window' & exit
The source is the route to the first file you created, if you have spaces in your folder names you will need a back slash to let terminal know to continue reading.
- change the pre-set number (in red) to that of the pre-set you want to recall.
- Save the file as a relevant name, for example “P.Set1.txt”
The last line
osascript -e 'tell application "Terminal" to close first window' & exit
Will close the terminal window without changing any settings, a much slicker way of dealing with this.
Make it a .command file
Change the extension to “.command” (“P.Set1.command”) you will be asked if you want to change the extension, select, change to “.command”
Change the access rights of your files.
Open a terminal window and type
chmod a+x (yourscriptname)
Replace (yourscriptname) with the root & name to your command & sh file. (The easiest way to do this is drag the file from a finder window & drop it in the terminal window.)
Hit return, if the window reports no errors then you have updated the rights of your file.
You will have to do this with both types of file.
Stream Deck interface
Now, open the Stream Deck interface, (you can download the latest version here) on the right hand side under the system tab you’ll see a rocket icon, drag this to a free button, name the button as you wish & then click choose & point it towards your preset file.

Finally
That’s it, you should now see the button on your stream deck console, hit that button & it will fire the file, you’ll see it briefly flash on the screen of your mac & then close again if all went well.
You can repeat this process for as many buttons as you require.
Thanks to Dean Turner for the original complete .sh script Thanks to Nico Jongejan for extra advice on the IP address Thanks to google for the other bits ;)
